HOW WE DEVELOP PLAYERS

Paradigm assesses the individual player before simply prescribing more repetitions.

Our coaching process examines:

  • Skating mechanics and movement patterns

  • Acceleration and speed

  • Deceleration and stopping

  • Edge control and transitions

  • Change of direction

  • Balance and movement efficiency

  • Force application, sequencing and loading

  • Positional demands

  • Perception and decision-making

  • Movement solutions within game situations

From those observations, we establish individual development priorities and monitor how the player responds throughout the season. Training environments require players to perceive information, solve movement problems and adapt — not simply reproduce isolated movements without context.

VIDEO ANALYSIS + DEVELOPMENT RECORDS

Sessions are recorded from multiple angles for coaching review and player analysis. Video allows our coaching staff to examine mechanics, movement quality, recurring patterns and decisions beyond what can be evaluated in real time on the ice. We meticulously examine video of each player, frame by frame, to provide detailed personalized feedback from one of our Train 2.0 certified coaches in the form of weekly written summaries, along with player raw footage and analysis clips with on-screen labeling. Players and parents are encouraged to review the feedback and reply with any questions via the online hub. Paradigm also maintains private player development records for cohort athletes.

Records may include:

  • Assessment findings

  • Mechanical observations

  • Development priorities

  • Coaching cues

  • Recurring movement patterns

  • Progress notes

  • Relevant video references

The result is the Paradigm Player Requirements Evolution Plan (PREP). Our Train 2.0 certified coaches identify posture cue strengths and weaknesses with detailed time stamps and coach’s notes, to flag key areas for development within an ongoing plan. Each and every session is relevant for detailed comparisons with future sessions during the season to monitor progress. This data can also be applied to in-game analysis to assess game transfer of mechanics and real-time decision-making.

A SEASON-LONG DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

Player development is monitored throughout the season. As movement improves, problems change and new demands appear, therefore the coaching intervention changes with the player. The goal is to progressively connect better mechanics and movement efficiency, leveraging Train 2.0’s resources, with the positional and decision-making demands of competitive hockey.
